This season, we’re excited to host Jen from the Redecor Art Team — the creative mind behind the style and concept for Nordic Winter! Jen will be sharing insights from her experience designing the Season Pass items, both in the briefs and the in-game designs. Here’s an exclusive in-depth interview where she shares her inspirations and thoughts about Nordic Winter.

Living in Finland, you’re surrounded by the real essence of Nordic winters. How did your everyday environment influence your vision for this season? Here you can’t help but be influenced by the nature. The long quiet days, the soft light, it kind of teaches you to value simplicity, warmth, and functionality. For me, it naturally shaped the way I see this style: I want things to feel calm and cozy like a little shelter from the cold outside.
What inspired the design direction for this Nordic Winter season? The inspiration came from the season we’re slowly approaching here. We wanted to share with our players around the world how unique and beautiful Nordic winters are, and show how nature-inspired patterns and design elements can be incorporated into everyday designs.
How would you describe “Nordic Winter” in three words? Magical, calm, serene
What key elements define Nordic style, and how did you adapt them for this season? As I mentioned earlier, Nordic style draws heavily from nature in its patterns, textures, and colors. Another key element is timelessness: many Nordic design brands were founded decades ago, yet their work remains modern, stylish, and relevant today. And above all, it’s practical at heart blending warmth, coziness, and beauty with a simplicity that makes everyday life feel effortless. I try to focus on all of these while working on the season’s materials, that’s why in the Season Pass you’ll find a timeless black-painted wood surface, a floral textile and ceramics in wintery tones, and a soft beige rug that feels like a snowy path.
Are there specific colors or textures that you feel capture the heart of Nordic winter? Yes, all textures and colors in the Season Pass reflects it: wintery tones with touches of brown and beige, paired with irregular shapes and rough, natural textures.
How do you balance simplicity and coziness in your designs? Share a tip with the players! I balance simplicity and coziness by keeping the core design clean, while adding small, nature-inspired details f.e. textured arts or textiles, warm tones, or soft rugs that make a space feel inviting without feeling cluttered. My tip: focus on one or two cozy elements at a time, so warmth doesn’t overwhelm simplicity.
What was the most exciting part of creating this season’s looks? The most exciting part was bringing the essence of Nordic winter to life capturing the calm, magical atmosphere through textures, colors, and materials. I loved finding ways to translate nature into patterns and design details that feel both timeless and cozy.
What’s your favorite piece or design element from the season? Is there one object, pattern, or detail in this season that feels especially personal to you? My favorite piece is the table DO(we’ll need to add the name of it when we know it) with the irregularly shaped white like snow vase, a fir branch, and the decorative wooden black bird. It perfectly captures the essence of Nordic nature: calm, magical, and harmonious, all in a single composition!
Do you have a personal connection to Nordic style or winter traditions? Yes, I do. Living in Finland, I’ve grown to love the quiet beauty of long winters — the soft light, the snow-covered landscapes, and the way nature inspires calm and warmth.
If you could decorate your own home in this style, what would be a must-have? If I could decorate my own home in this style, a must-have would be the contrast of cold and warm tones, think snowy whites paired with warm wood and soft beige accents. I’d include irregular shapes that feel natural and organic, cozy textures like wool, linen, and soft rugs, and small nature-inspired details that bring the outside in. For me, it’s all about creating a space that feels both serene and inviting, where every element tells a story of the Nordic landscape
If Nordic Winter had a soundtrack, what would it sound like? Gentle piano notes with sounds of nature f.e. subtle wind sounds, the occasional distant birdcall etc Don’t have any soundtrack in mind
Nordic style is known for minimalism — how do you keep it simple without feeling bare? I keep Nordic style simple by focusing on a few key elements such as natural textures, warm tones, and thoughtful details. Instead of filling a space, I let materials and shapes speak for themselves, so it feels cozy and inviting rather than empty. It’s about creating calmness and warmth within simplicity
What’s one detail from Finnish life you wish more people around the world could experience? Sauna!
Thank you, Jen! We hope that the Nordic Winter Season will be our best one yet! Give it a go in the Redecor app.
