5 Tips to Master Zen Design (Redecor Style)

Plus, a sneak peak at what’s coming your way this Season

Designers, take a deep breath in… and exhale the chaos. Because this Season on Redecor, we’re trading in the noise for serenity, the clutter for clarity, and the stress for some Zen.

Zen Home is more than a look — it’s a lifestyle. Think calm corners, earthy tones, natural textures, and a sense of balance. Rooted in ancient Zen philosophy (which, fun fact, originated in China), this Season is all about wellness, introspection, and that blissful ahhh feeling you get after decluttering your inbox and your closet.

Whether you’re going full minimalist or just adding a splash of calm to your space, here are 5 tips to master the Zen Home design style — Redecor-style:

  1. Keep It Simple, Sweetheart (K.I.S.S.)

Zen interiors thrive on minimalism — not in a “cold, empty” way, but in a “just enough” kind of way. Choose pieces that feel meaningful, not excessive. Notice how the Redecor Art Team did this in the scene below with a single vase, a framed print, and a delicate flower arrangement that all speak volumes with very little. The neutral tones and clean styling do all the talking.

  1. Nature Knows Best

Wood, stone, linen, bamboo — when in doubt, go au naturel. Zen design pulls the outdoors in to ground your space and your mood. See how this plays out in the design below. Woven textures, potted plants, and a floor cushion made from natural fibers create a peaceful meditation corner that feels straight from nature.

  1. Let There Be (Soft) Light

Harsh lighting = harsh vibes. Zen is all about ambient, diffused light — the kind that makes you feel instantly more relaxed. Take a look at this design created by the Art Team. Soft natural daylight filters through sheer curtains, bouncing off gentle green tones and layered textures. Plus, the lantern lights? Pure Zen brilliance.

  1. Create a Space to Exhale

Zen isn’t just an indoor vibe — take your calm outdoors. Whether it’s a balcony, garden, or corner patio, creating a peaceful nook under the sky is the ultimate design flex. Think natural textures, flowing fabrics, and a layout that invites rest, not rush. Notice how the Redecor Art Team created this vibe in this setting. The soft green palette, clean stonework, and cherry blossom petal-filled pool turn this outdoor area into a literal breath of fresh air. It’s giving: “you’ll find me here all day.”

  1. Add a Hint of Meaning

Zen isn’t blank. It’s mindful. Choose art and objects that bring a sense of calm or personal connection. The scene below shows this beautifully: The wall art of soft waves, the blossom print on the couch, and the simple pottery vase all add subtle meaning without overpowering the space.
